🚶♂️Irwell Valley Circular Walk
Midweek circular walk in the Irwell Valley with Burnley Mountaineering and Fellwalking Club.
Starting at Buffer Stops at the end of the end of the East Lancashire Railway. The route climbed along the side of Dearden Moor before dropping into Edenfield, under the A56 to the Irwell, before following the river and railway back to Rawtenstall through Townsend Fold.
Like most commuting into Manchester from Burnley, I’ve driven through this route many times, but never walked in this area before.
No tops on this walk, but amazing views across the Irwell Valley to Peel Tower, and a quiet industrial conclusion.
