    🏃 Aerobic Endurance Run - 70min Z2 | 6:08/km | 1:10:36 | 11.51km | 1431kcal

Rounding off the week with a 70 min LSR. Out on the Leeds Liverpool Canal past the Turf, dropping back into Burnley down Trafalgar Street and Centenary Way. Another lucky break in the weather.

    🏃 Strength Endurance Run - 6x90s HR | 5:49/km | 52:52 | 9.09km | 1016kcal

Didn’t feel rested enough for a day out walking with the mountaineering club, so made do with an unexpected hill rep session between the showers. Progressing well through half marathon training plan now.

Maintaining strength and flexibility has always been my weakness both as a climber, and triathlete.

Discovered this heritage tramway and museum while at Heaton Park for todays half marathon.

Looked great, but felt too rough after the run to explore further.

Run Aintree Half Marathon - Feb 2023

We headed down to Liverpool for the RunThrough Run Aintree event. RunThrough run the Run Aintree event five times per year, with entry into the half-marathon costing £40 (2023) including event t-shirt. The event itself is well run, and based within the stadium, it was incredibly nice to use permanent facilities, and not to have to use portaloos! There was also an excellent though expensive coffee van, and spectators could just sit in the stands and watch their horses run around the course.

    Tempo Interals 28/1/23

Tempo Interval session with Caoimhe - was really impressed at how well she coped with the speed changes between intervals. Ran out East towards Barrowford, turning around after 30 minutes. As the light was running out, and the weather fairly dreich, we had the canal largely to ourselves. Quite pleased with progress in training for Manchester Marathon 2023, despite January being a tough training month with dark evenings and winter interjecting.

Threshold Tests on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal - January 2023

This article describes setting run pace and heart rate threshold values at the beginning of my training for the Adidas Manchester Marathon 2023. The first week of 2023 coincides with the beginning of my training block into the Adidas Manchester Marathon. At the start of each training block and phase it can be useful to check threshold pace and heart rate values to ensure that training zones are accurately set for the remainder of the block.

This weeks long run was a 15km out and back on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, between the two storms.

From Barden Marina, East becomes more green and rural, West more industrial heritage.

I opted for East, up to Barrowford Reservoir (which was pretty much empty) and back.

Running through Towneley Park towards the end of a tough run through Burnley in the wind.

Such that a gust nearly lifted me off the embankment at the mile and deposited me in Leeds Liverpool Canal.

Looking back across Burnley towards Trawden Forest.

Tough long Padiham circuit, with most of the climbing coming early.

Long run up to 17km now - so getting in a good place for Manchester Marathon early April.

Hilly and dreich, but fun, 14km circuit around Burnley this morning.

Good to see / feel improvement from earlier runs up from Barrowford. Though running low and really needed to fuel on last climb.

I’ve become increasingly good at getting training volume in over the last few years, without getting the results that I wanted out of that in terms of competitiveness and weight.

With two marathons this year and as many Parkruns that @craftedbypanda allows me out for, I need to be leaner, lighter and faster.

One of the changes I’m making in 2022 is to maintain a food diary. I’m using nutracheck, but plenty of other options out there. I won’t achieve my goals by training alone.

Mainly to keep myself accountable while working next door to the kitchen, and to run a flight calorie deficit to reduce weight slowly…. also to make sure that I fuel correctly for training and recovery.

About 21lbs to go to a sensible race weight…

    My veloviewer infographic for 2021.

In 2021 I rode (mainly) and ran 5,690km in 229h across 207 active days.

In 2022 the balance will tilt more towards run, with Brighton (April) and London (October) marathons and wanting to speed up the faster distances.

    Prague - Hvezda

Welcome to the InsideRRR preview of the Prague - Hvezda course on Rouvy. Please read on to see my thoughts on the route, course profile and images, and my own ride data. Route Description The Prague - Hvezda course on Rouvy is a flat 4.5km run loop through Obora Hvezda, a large park outside Prague. The course was a short test of the Rouvy AR Run functionality, which I had not tried out since leaving Rouvy in September in a strop about their increasingly hard line on interactive trainers in races - which I've no intention of upgrading my smart bike to.

Running in Paris from Notre Dame

Welcome to the InsideRide guide to the Running in Paris from route on Kinomap. Please read on to see details and photographs on the route, elevation profile, and our own run data. This was our first meaningful activity on Kinomap, primarily to test how well front facing camera view worked on the iPad in comparison to running in real life. Kinomap front camera view overestimates power unless stride is considerably lengthened - providing a disincentive to run properly!
