Not having time to write a full TR this evening unfortunately, but I think that the pictures below adequately portray the story. Had an absolutely awesome day on Coniston. My dodgy knee managed to keep pace with Team Smith, and there was a bit of a return to form for me!
Assuming that the weather would be awfull, I left my sunhat, cream and midgspray at home, and opted to take full waterproofs, living to regret all 3.
We set off from Torver, but instead of heading up to Goats water forged straight towards White Maiden. We then followed the ridge along Walna Scar and up to Dow Crag. Desccending to Goats Hause we pushed on to the Old Man with beer and curry transposted by the two Smith Sherpas. We followed on to Brim Fell, Swirl How and Great Carrs. Returning to Swirl How we descended the Prison Band to ascend Wetherlam via Black Sails.
Apologies for the poor TR – hopefully the photos fill in the blanks!
