Had a great day out on Saturday with Mike and Nigel. The plan had been to follow the route in the Nuttall book, and we set off from the car park adjacent to Llyn Celyn with fine blue skies all around.
After a period of time wading through deep ferns we crossed under a pylon and into the open countryside. We walked for perhaps a mile over wet soggy terrain, and forced a way up Arenig Fach following a track that had been compressed by a quad bike.
Arriving on the summit we took in the views to the North, which were absolutely fantastic, and had lunch. The weather began to worsen, and neither of us felt much like the remainder of the walk, so we reversed the route back to the car and to the Tanant Valley Inn at Llangynog. My knee had troubled me a little, and I think that I will rest it for a period of time.
I went climbing on Sunday at the new rock wall in Birmingham, my highest graded route being a 5a+, which was a lot easier than some of the ‘easier’ grades that I climbed on the day!
