Had a wicked day today, hatched a plan in the Clachaig last night to claim Bidean nam Bian with the blokes from Lincoln, which involved me buying the pub out of chocolate as I had no food to take. I didn’t fancy trying to descend from Stob Coire Sgreamhach with one hand, so turned back on the summit of Bidean to avoid the scree. We climbed up to Coire nan Lochan via a good path between Aonach Dubh and Gear Aonach, we crossed to the right of the Coire and followed a ridge on to Stob Coire nan Lochan, and on to Bidean nam Bian. We descended via the same route, as all the alternatives seemed horrendously eroded.
Moved up to Kinlochleven that evening, had a good shower, and it didn’t cost 50p, and got absolutely eaten alive by the midges – they were unbelievable. Couldn’t possibly have cooked, so had dinner in the Tailrace Inn, and drunk into the early hours, again.
