I’m taking it easy on the knee at the moment, as I’m still feeling a little pain within it. With this in mind I concentrated on climbing this weekend. I spent saturday with Steve, George and Chris on Little Tryfan climbing routes that were probably Mods or Diffs. We spent Sunday climbing Hope (VD) on Idwal Slabs. I rather enjoyed both days, although I had been particularly anxoious (even more so than usual) about my first multi-pitch. I found the climb to be quite comfortable, and will be climbing more over the coming weeks.
On returning from climbing on Little Trfan on the Saturday evening, Chris and I made a quick dash for Yr Aran. We headed straight up the Watkin path, and turned on to the South Ridge track as it bears left from the Watkin Path. After maybe 100m on this path it bears off to the right at 90 ° at this point you carry straight on up the bank, and attain Yr Aran’s South Ridge. We pushed up this along an easy to follow wall, until we came to a col with a path heading North towards Snowdon’s South ridge. We made a note of this col and pushed up to the summit of Yr Aran. Having left Nant Gwynant at 19:00, we summited at 20:05 which is a little off pace, but we did have a couple of stops on the way.
We then returned to the col, and took the path heading north described above, as we did not wish to descend over the rubble we had ascended, as it was now getting dark. We arrived back on the Watkin Path before last light, and returned to the Hut without a need to resort to head torches.
