I typed this report up and accidetally deleted all the text, which is symptomatic of the kind of week I’m having. Therefore your’e now getting the simplified version. I had a crap drive up to Wasdale Head on Friday. I didn’t arrive until 23:15, and the bar was shut. We sat arount the Barbie until about 2am, before getting to bed. I slept in Billy’s tent as there was no room to pitch mine on the site.
On the Saturday we got up at about 9am, and set off up Moses Trod to Styhead Tarn at about 11am. Me and Graham arrived there first, pitching the tents before the others arrived. In the process of which my inner nearly blew in to the lake. At about 13:00 Andy, Darren and Graham went of to climb on Napes Needle. After much deliberation me and Billy opted for Glaramara, basically because there was a pub at the end of it.
We really did have an excellent walk in with views over Langdale, of Bow-fell, and of Great End and Esk Pike. We quickly ascended Allen Craggs, 785m, and took in the the views over Derwent Water to Skiddaw. From here though it seemed to take forever to reach the top of Glaramara at 783m. It took us until 16:00 to get there. We should have turned back here but the lure of the Helvellyn Gold was too strong. We lost the track momentarily on the way down, before finding it again on Thornythwaite Fell.
The descent seemed to take disproportionately long, and we did not arrive at the pub until about 17:30. We returned via Grains Gill, not arriving back until 21:00. When we got back we couldn’t even be bothered to cook, we just crashed.
