Had a good weekend climbing at Stanage, generally the weather was poor in the morning and bettered during the day. On the Saturday the weather was so poor that we wrote the day off and went to the pub, only for the sun to come out at about 3pm. I, Jonathan, Chris, Sophie and Nigel raced back to the bunkhouse to grab our gear, and after some initial wearines I completed my first climb – a V Diff.
I walked to the edge with Vanessa and John on the Sunday. I didn’t really intend to climb, but nobody wanted to go Marilyn bagging with me, and I didn’t have the list with me anyway. The rock was dry by early afternoon, and I started with a Diff, then another V Diff, and finished off with a struggle up a Severe.
On the Saturday I walked to Burbidge with John, Jim and Vanessa, rounding off the weekend with a V Diff, and my first overhang – graded HS. I then walked back to the bunkhouse with John through an electric storm!
