This part of the Real Python course deals with setting up the IDLE application for working with python. Instead we briefly run through the software that we will be using while working our way through the Real Python course.
For complex projects we will generally use the fully featured IDE PyCharm Professional.
For quickly testing code snippets without setting up a test environment we generally use the lightweight CodeRunner application. In fact we’ve even programmed in BASIC in CodeRunner. before now.
The free PyCharm Education release should be more than sufficient for this first part of the course.
Finally, for working from the terminal, or when working predominantly on the command line, we generally work with Sublime Text 2. As well as being an excellent code editor, it contains a perpetual free trial!
