I had originally planned to head into Aberdeen today to have a go at the Parkrun, but ultimately decided to save myself the 2 hour round trip, although with sunshine, blue skies and fluffy white clouds I’m sure that Aberdeen would have been a dream today on the esplanade.
This run is not itself the most interesting, although the scenery is lovely alongside the water in the Glen, the reason that I opted for this one, and will continue to choose runs like this, is that it has just dawned on me that I have to run 26.2 miles on tarmac next Sunday, and the last time I ran on tarmac I developed plantar fasciitis, and didn’t run for a month prior to Glen Ogle.
So I opted to go out and run for an hour, and ideally wanted to stay under 9min/mi, and in truth was a little despondent at the top of the glen when my pace started falling away, but recovered for a strong finish averaging 8:38min/mi. Two points of note, this run contained my 3rd best 10km time ever at 53:26, and secondly I had Paradise stuck in my head after reading Liz Tunna’s blog yesterday. Grrr.
In summary, I am really happy with this run, am looking forward to carb loading tonight before a slow long run tomorrow, on a route to be decided, where I will be aiming to hang around 10min/mi for around 15 miles.
